Why it is important to meet your DJ before the wedding

Over the last few years, we have become reliant on communicating through emails or instant messages. Many people feel more comfortable with communicating via this method, as let’s face it - it can be a bit daunting talking to strangers. However when it comes to arranging the right DJ for your wedding, meeting the DJ is best practice for the below reasons. Meeting can be done either on the phone, Zoom or in person.

1. Vibe Check

You have found a DJ who looks good on their website, have great reviews, were recommended by your venue or friend, and when you emailed them they replied promptly. All fantastic attributes that point to great, professional DJ! But the last step I would highly recommend is to actually speak with them prior to booking. Not all couples are the same, so you want to know that they’re the right vibe for you. If they’re friendly, listen to you, answer all your questions and show genuine interest in you and your vision for your wedding, secure that DJ ASAP!

2. Same Page

When you meet with your DJ they should be asking questions to get a better idea of you as a couple (and your guests). You can always send a list of your favourite songs you want to be played at your wedding. But if a DJ knows your ‘family songs’, or songs that you and your friends all have a fond memory to, that will elevate the night from great to fantastic.

3. Right Person for the Job

The DJ will make or break the flow of your wedding. After all, they are responsible for background music during dinner and bringing the energy for dance floor time. The better the DJ knows you and your tastes, the faster they can work with your style. After all, a DJ can entertain you to the high heavens or bore your guests to tears. If the DJ will also be your MC, it’s also a good idea to meet with them so you know how they sound when running your wedding formalities.

4. Assurance

Meeting your DJ will give you the assurance that you have made the right choice. There is no better way to actually know if your wedding DJ is the right fit for you if you don’t have the opportunity for a meeting with them.

If you’re looking for a professional DJ to ignite your dance floor, please get in touch with me. I’d love to be part of your special day and if I am not available, I’ll be able to recommend some other great options for your special day. Take care, and I look forward to speaking with you soon.
